Daniel Nahmod's FIRE Sale!

Hi everybody! Daniel Nahmod here. I'm really excited to announce a crazy new offer in conjunction with the release of my 13th studio CD, "Time For Fire."

I have to give props to Josh Freese right upfront, the brilliant drummer who came up with this idea originally for a CD of his. I'm borrowing it liberally -- of course, hopefully making it my own -- but he definitely gets credit.

SO -- here's the story. My new CD is all about action. Risk. Taking the leap of faith and landing on your feet. Living LARGE, LOUD, and BOLD. (Or is that loudLY and boldLY?)

That's the vibe behind my first-ever FIRE SALE. It's a series of seriously fun packages which give you the opportunity to have a large, loud or bold (or all of the above) experience of this new music... and to have that experience with me personally.

I'll list all the FIRE Sale Packages below, so you can really get a sense of what I'm talking about. I hope you get a kick out of it. It was certainly fun to put together, and it's exciting to consider sharing these experiences with folks from around the country!

I'm framing the FIRE Sale as a blog because, first of all I'd love to hear what you think about it -- and secondly, depending on how this turns out, I'll have some really fun stories to share with you as it goes. Who knows? That's the point -- HERE GOES NOTHING. (Title of one of the new songs... sorry, inside joke. Inside my own head, that is.)

• A FESTIVE MUSICAL MASTERCLASS:

This one's for the singer, songwriter, or instrumentalist... We'll spend a day together making music. That means: I'll sit with you in my studio and show you what I'm working on, how I develop my tracks, how I write songs, how I use the recording software, etc. I'll answer one or a thousand questions as we go. Then we'll spend a couple hours co-writing a song, and recording it at the same time (the goal will be to finish a demo of it so you can go home with a CD, but there's no way of knowing in advance - either way, you'll end up with a recording on CD sooner rather than later). Then, I'll work with you, one-on-one, for the entire afternoon on either a) developing your own writing and/or performing style, through critique, advice, demonstration, etc., or b) precisely teaching you up to 5 of my songs, how they're played, how they're performed, what chords and voicings I use, what tricks I use, what they're really about... if you do perform my songs already, or if you'd like to, my goal will be to deepen that experience for you tremendously. And if you don't -- well, who needs you? Kidding -- I'd love to help you take your performing and/or writing to a next level regardless of the material. Then we'll finish up with a special treat: A private tour of Capitol Studios in Hollywood. You'll see the room, and the piano, and the barstool, where Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole, and the Beatles, and so many others, recorded their classic records. Plus a view of Hollywood from the roof. How's that sound -- an intense, fun day of music! Hope folks take me up on this one... :-)

We'll begin with a personal tour of the Hollywood/Beverly Hills area where I spent seven years writing and recording One Power, Sacred Love and Different Me. I promise a stop for milkshakes too. If you've never been to Hollywood, we'll take a swing around Grauman's Chinese -- and maybe a quick stop at MY favorite handprints in concrete (Stevie Wonder's!) which are NOT at the Grauman's... After some of my favorite West Side sights and bites, we'll head south for sightseeing and windowshopping (and a souvenir) on Balboa Island and dinner at the chic Gulfstream Restaurant in Newport Beach. We'll wrap up the day with a private performance on the beach... you choose the songs! I'll even do "American Pie" if you can help me with verses 16 thru 229.

I'll fly you (round-trip, of course, unless you're on the lam and really don't want to go home ever again) to any concert of mine in 2009, pick you up from the airport, and put you up at a (nice!) hotel. While you're there, we'll go sightseeing together, and you'll help me decide the set list for the concert. We'll put you in the front row for the show (I might even ask you to sing with me, who knows?)... Then, we'll recap the trip wIth dinner or dessert after the concert. Then I'll take you back to the airport for the trip home.

• You'll still get an autographed acoustic guitar... but the guitar will be MY OWN -- the beautiful maple Taylor 614E I've performed with all these years. Still in great shape, lovingly used, sounding beautiful... and for 20K, you've earned it! Who knows... some day it might be worth something :-)

• A FESTIVE HOME-COOKED MEAL AND DISNEYLAND FIREWORKS

I'll present my beloved guitar to you at my house in Orange County, where you'll meet our dog, Maggie, who will love you, I promise. No, Maggie isn't part of the deal. But, Melina will prepare a pasta meal complete with her unbelievable simmered-8-hours homemade tomato sauce, salad with her homemade italian dressing, and those incredible homemade chocolate chip cookies served with ice cream and hot fudge! Have I mentioned that it's all homemade? Mmmmm... Finally, you, Melina and I will spend some quality time in Disneyland or California Adventure, culminating in their awesome fireworks show. If you haven't been on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride, prepare to scream! And we'll send you on your way, with a (hopefully) great feeling inside and out. And a couple of cookies for the road.
